PRESS COMMENT ON THE LOSSES (Roc. August 31, 9.50 p.m.) London, August 31. The "Daily Mail" says: "The submarines aro still the master problem of the war. The losses of almost seventy big ships every month reveal the- fact that wo are barely holding our own, at the severest cost.' "The Times" Engineering Supplement comments: "The losses of 825 vessels from half a year's ruthlessness represents- about one-eighth of the mercautila fleet, an average loss of 3776 tons each, excluding 149 fishing vessels."-Jnited Service. FRENCH SHIPPING LOSSES London, August 30. The Trench returns show that the week's arrivals totalled 920 and the sailings 1013. Three vessels of over 1600 tons and one of under 1600 tons were sunk.
