NAVAL liJJSERVIST HONOURED. London, August 23. The Victoria Cross lias been awarded to Captain Joseph. Watt, of the Naval itreei'vo, who commanded the drifter Cowan Lea when she was attacked by Austrian light cruisers in Juno. THlon lie had sailed to -within'a hundred yards range ho ordered full-speed, aiid fought with his gun until disabled. Ho escaped. and removed the dead and wounded from tho badly-damaged drifter. Many other officers were honoured for their gallantry in the same action. Squadron-Commander Savory was awarded a bar to tho Distinguished Service Order for bombing tho Goben in Constantinople on June 9. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
