AUSTRIAN APPEAL FOE HELP REFUSED END OF THE MOSCOW CONFERENCE . KERENSKY'S WARNING ■ RUSSIAN DIVISION BREAKS 1 DISORDER Probably on account of the vile condition of the weather, there is a comparative lull on tho Western front. The Italians in the Carso are forcing the pressure, and by keeping in close contact with the enemy are steadily pushing him back, l'tesh gains aro reported to-day. Tho Austrians have appealed to Germany for reinforcements, but the latter, her hands already more than full, has refused the request. There has been another shameful collapse on tho Russian southern front, where a whole division, abandoning its positions, fled in disorder, opening the way for a further advanco by the Germans.- The Moscow Conference has ended with a parting warning by M. Kerensky to tho forecs of anarchy. As Minister of Justice, he says, ho abolished tho death penalty; as Minister of War ho has been obliged to restore it. Ho is prepared to kill for the salvation of the nation. Comments on the results of tho Conference aro varied, Mr. Wilton, the "Times" correspondent at Petrograd, is pessimistic. On the other hand, the Germans aro disappointed, and there is a note of chagrin in their newspaper oommont. Tho Inter-Allied Socialist Conferenco lias ended somewhat indecisively.
