It isKonerally understood that Sir John Findlay'is not a competitor, and that Mr. Si'dey does not press his claims. If there, were no other considerations, it is probable that ilr. Forbes would Ret thenomination. Indeed he' is still tho man most likelv to be appointed. What he. has to'feaY is that tho North v.. Sourk Island question may bo.raised. Inje. issue may bD put in the interests- of tno> party as well as in the interests of individuals, because there is danger front the party leader's point of view of tho Liberal Party getting the reputation oC being a South Island party. If it is decided that a North Islander ehoiriJ W chosen, Mr. Poland may have the tesfi chances.
