MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE AMD .MAINTENANOB CASES. Mr. 8. E. li'aarthy, S.M., presided at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, and dealt with police and maintenance cases. For inßobrioty Charles Lindholm, against whom there were four previous convictions, was sent to prison for one month; Albert John Nelson was fined £3, in default seven- days' imprisonment;, and John Forrelwas lined £2, with the option of serving seven" diay in gaol. Four first oflcnders wero dealt with the us.ua.l lenient manner. , "'.'' John Cordon, whose arrears on a maintenance order totalled £26 Bb., was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, warrant not to bo issued unless applied for by complainant. Gustave Myers, who was in arrears to tho amount of £1 10s. ia respect of tho maintenance of Mb child, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, warrant not to issue until applied for by complainant. Frederick Edwards, whose ai-roars totalled £1 10s., was sentonceil to six months' imprisonment, warrant not to issue unless applied for by complainant. Tobias Slattery was ordered to contribute ss. a. week towards the support of his father, and was also ordered to puy 303. costs. . ■ In the case of Albert Berry v. M. Evelyn Berry, an application for variation of a maintenance order, tho amount was reduced from 275. 6d. to 225. 6d. per. week. Mabel llaud Nightingale, for whom Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared, applied for a maintenance order against her husband, G. G. Nightinfile, represented by Mr. 6, F. O'Lcary. After hearing tho evidence of hbth parties, tho Magistiato decided that he could Diako ii(< order. ■
