ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
ANNUAL MEETING, : The annual meeting of the New Zealand Academy of i'mu Arts wus held last evening. lir. H. 11. Gore (president) was in tbo chair, and there, was a good attendance of members. ' The annual report and balance-sheet .were, adopted. A motion was agreed to expressing tho desirability of resumption by tho society of the annual sketch exhibition as wellas the ordinary annual exhibition. It was explained by the president that now that tne building Had been enlarged such an exhibition could be held in the watercolour gallery. ■ It was also agreed that it be a recommendation to tho council to devoto a certain portion of the funds to purchasing tlie work of New Zealand artists. It was stated that the overdraft of the society had been considerably reduced at the bank, and that something of this 6ort might bo done in the future. ■The election of. officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. IT. 11. Goro; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. Ellis and H. F. von Haast; council, Mrs. ,T. A. Tripe, Mrs. J.- A. Hannah* Miss D. K. Richmond, Messrs. A. Atkins, T. S. Weston C. Wileon, W. A. Bowring, A. T. Bate; treasurer, Mr: H. Bastings; secretary' Mr.- P. D. Hodgkins; auditor, Mr. C D Morpcth.
