The balance-sheet to bo presented to members of the Wellington Trotting Club shows that tho local body is in a sound position financially. The-receipts for tho yesr just ended amounted.to £2500, and the expenditure to £2300. The club gave in etakes over £500. The annual meeting of members is to be held at Pctone on Saturday, September 15. Mr. H. Coylc has been appointed handicapper to the Taranaki Jockey Club. Mr. P. Armstrong's Grand National winner Sleight-of-Hand has been a, very consistent order, both on the flat and over hurdles. Out of his many essays' the Mystification gelding has only been unplaced once in each department of the sport. The Highden mares Truce and Cease Fire have gone to the YVaikanao Stud, and are to be mated with Boniform. Oxcnhopo is to bo given a chance to earn distinction over hurdles. Latest advices state that it will be impossible to ship St. Elmn and Golden Glado to Sydney by the boat which was thought would leave a northern port this week. Word has been received in Auckland that the Minister of Internal Affairs has acquiesced in the application lodged by. the Auckland Eacing Club for a. one-day spring meeting, to be held | on November 10. Wcstendale, who scored in the Adelaide Grand Steeplechase last Saturday, is a New Zealand-bred gelding by Birkenhead from the .Euroclydon maro Windlass. Another New Zealauder in Troublesomo won the same event last year. From what can be gathered, the Auckland Cup, to bo run on December 26, will carry the same stake as last year, 2650 sovs. Tho Auckland-owned Bloomine, which is now trained at Trenthain by 3. W. Scott, will remain in that trainer's charge for the spring racing. J. O'Shea has again accepted a retainer from Mr. T. H. Lowry. and he will probably go across to Australia to ride Desert Gold in her Australian engagements. Mr. G. D- Greenwood regretted selling Tournament after she hid been knocked down at 28 guineas to Mr. Short, and after tho sole offered the purchaser 200 guineas on tho bargain, without result. Polygamist, who won tho Australian Hurdlo Bace, was imported from lhiglard. While ou his way out the ship caught fire three days out from Durban., and tho horse was rescued with some difficulty. It has now been definitely decided that there will be only five days' racing during Carnival week. The Canterbury Jockey Oliih has cut its meeting down to three flays, which will probably bo Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, while tho N.SS. Metropolitan Trotting Club may fix on the ! intervening Tuesday and Friday for its gathering. After her victors- in the August Jtlandicap Disdainful changed, hands, and tho daughter of Bunny Glen will in future race in the interest of her trainer, Mr. G. M. Aynslc.v.
