CRY3TALATE CUP WON BY CONGDON. Somewhere between three and four hundred ipeople viewed the final at Alcock'a. Inst night of the inter-club championship. . The contest was between the representative of the Commercial and Farmers' Club, Mnsterton, A. ,T. Congdon, and H. Stone, Petone Workingmen's Club. Both players started oft nervously, but soon commenced to score small breaks round about the twenties fairly consistently. On several occasions Stone worked tho red ball well, Congdon on the other hand using tho top of the table rather moro frequently. Right up to the 300 mark the players were fairly evon. After that, however, Congdon got going, and drew steadily away, finally winning by 156 points. The best breaks wero'i-Congdon, 53, 29, 38, 26, 24, 21 ;• Stone, 29, 23. After the match the Crystalate Cup was presented to Mr. Congdon, who has now won it four times, and if he is fortunate enough to win it again it becomes jiTs personal property. This year the ordinary prizes were dispensed with, the contestants unanimously agreeing that tho entrance fee? should, without deduction, bo donated to tho war funds. Messrs. Alcock and Co., Ltd., however, donated a set of match Kills as a second prize and a cue to the maker of the highest > break outside of the prize-winners. This latter was won by W. N. Tucker. Mr. Sykes, M.P., was asked by tho contestants to thank Messrs. Alcock and Co. for the excellent table and conditions that they had provided.
