CHAOS IN FINLAND
London, August 22. The "Daily Chronicle's" correspondent at Petrograd reports a chaotic condition in Finland. Tlie Diet sat for four months, and tho" legislative result was practically nil. Tho militia at Helsingfors recently struck, leaving the city unprotected. Drunkenness and robberies aro rifo, murders are frequent, as well as strikes and riots. Tho rioters demanded tho resumption of tho Diet -ittings, and broke into the Town Council and made tho councillors prisoners until they were released by tho militia und students. Many were, wounded in street shooting. There is a strong undercurrent of pro-German agitation. The Russian Government is determined to take decisive action.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. EX-TSAR'S TRAIN IN COLLISION Petrograd, August 22. Tho train on which ex-Tsar Nicholas and his family wero travelling to Siberia collided with a freight train at Shalia. Mo one was injured, but it was necessary to complete the journey by steamboat. The Romanoffs will reside at tho Governor's honse at Tobolsk, which will be surrounded by 500 guards.—Aus.-N.Z.
