MILITARY SERVICE BOARD

SESSIONS RESUMED. The Third Wellington Military Servico Board eat in Wellington yesterday. Mr. H. J. Beswick presided, and with him were Mr. M. J. Mack and Mr. A. O'L. Considine. Captain P. Baldwin represented the military. Tho board heard a number of appeals made on behalf of seamen and firemen, and in all cases in which tho requisite amount of sea service was proved, granted, adjournments sine dio Mr. Young, secretary of tho Seamen's Union, supported tho appeals. , The board had no recommendation to make in any of tho following cases:— Henry John Tolley, olectrician, Kilbirjiie; I/ance-Corporal Liddle, slaughterman (appellant having left with the forces); J. A. Brailsford, electrician (who appealed on religious grounds); Private H. Hobbs. Pentherston Camp; Henry James Lovett, Trentham (another religious objector). The board dismissed the appeals of Thomas Herbert Phillips and Percy Guy Wright, Trentham, religious objectors, who refused to perform non-combatant services. Tho appeal of Herbert Charles Milverton, religious objector, To Aro, was allowed.' ■ Tho a.ppeal of Private D. Morgan, slaughterman, was dismissed. Several appeals on behalf of Catholic priests, Manst Brothers, and theological students were adjourned till Friday. Private (!. H. Kerapton, Tanheremkau, was granted throe months' exemption. Tho appeal of William Thomas Dolden. Newtown, was adjourned for three months. Harry Turner and Edward Turner, slaughtermen, proved ,not to bo reservists. Their appeals were allowed. An indefinite adjournment was made in the cases of Victor Mexted, farmer, Porirua; Ernest Alexander Johnston, slaughterman, Wailara; John Loamey, slaughterman, Tailmpe; Charles Ward, wireless telegraphist. P. A. Taylor. Brooklyn, and Clarence Victo Hugo, Kossmoor Crescent, were granted leavo till September 19. Tho board granted an adjournment of two months in the case of John f. Rogerson, manager of freezing works, Longburn. . , The appeal of David L. Jackson, colporteur, Island Buy,-'was allowed. The board adjourned till to-day.
