NEW ZEALAND CATHOLIC FEDERAUION
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand' Catholic Federation was held at St. Patrick's Hall, Wellington, yestorday. The president. Mr. D. L. Poppclwell (Gore), occupied the chair, and the following delefates were present:—Rev. Father Cahill, lessrs. F. G. J". Temm and J. T. Fitzgerald (Auckland), Rev. Father Hurley. S.M., Adni., Messrs. Halpin and Limford (Wellington), Rev. Father Kerley, S.M., Messrs. Doolan and Ryan (Christchurch), Messrs. Burke, Nolan, and Hoskings (Dominion Executive). His Graci} Archbishop O'Shea and a number of the local olerev also attended. After the president had-" welcomed the delegates His Grace Archbishop O'Rhea addressed the meeting- and expressed the news of the Hierarchy in regard to the present position as it affected Catholics. He strewed the imnortance of branches of the federation taking up systematically the study of social science. The Dominion Executive presented its report of operations for the past half-' vear, which had been of a very satisfactory nature. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded that body for its services. A lor»e amount of imnortant business atfpctin" the welfare of the Catholic community was dealt with. General satisfaction was expressed at the progress ot the federation for the past year, the election of officers resulted as follows :- Prpsidenf Mr. T>. T,. PopDolwell; viceSent:; Rev.
