CLAIMS OF THE WAR LOAN
IMPRESSED ON ROMAN CATHOLICS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, August 20. At the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Bishop Brodie, in a sermon, said he feu that Catholics would regard it as tneir duty to do what they could to further the success of the Liberty Loan. In placing the clainie of the War Loan before their people, the Catholic clergy were only doing what the bishops'and clergy had done in other countries. In England the bishoM took a most prominent part in similar work, while in Franco the bishops had issued special Pastoral Letters to the people, explaining their obligations towards providing the finances necessary for the war. Those who were blessed with money to spare should feel themselves called upon to help these movements as an appreciation of the bravery and sacrifice of the New Zealand soldiers, and as a mark ol gratitude to God for the liberty and privileges enjoyed, for which those soldiers were fighting.
