BITTER CONTEST IN THE AIR
HOW THE GUNS WERE GUIDED. (Hec. August 20, 5.5 p.m.) London, August 19. Mr. l'in-ie Eobinson states that the unprecedented weather which followed' the battle of July 31 enabled the Germans to reorganise their shattered air squadrons, since when the fighting lias been continuous ajid bitter. He vouches for tlio accuracy of our -communiques, and states:—"Our pilots know that from twenty to thirty, per. cent, more German machines have been destroyed than wo have claimed." He pays ;* ' tribute to the work of the pilots ia directing the artillery. One day the guns, guided by the aeroplanes, silenced! seventy-three German batteries, destroyed twenty-one gunpits, and davagetE thirty-five others—United Service.
