BILLIARDS ,
CRYSTALATE CUP TOURNAMENT. The inter-club gam 99 in (his tournament, played en Saturday night, were of unusual interest, and well worth -watching. Quite a large audience of ladies and gentlemen witnessed the contests, and at times' enthusiasm ran high, particularly in respect to some exceptionally brilliant shots by Congdon, the present cup holder. This player appears to be in very good form this year, and showed billiards very little behind, if at all, that of the different professional champions who have visited New Zeaiand in tho last few years. Congdon was an education not only in execution but in the finer points of tlie game, particularly in bringing the balls together. His future games will be looked forward to with interest. The first game played was between Brice (Petpne Working Men's Club) and Chandler (Letter-carriers' Club), the former winning by a substantial margin. The second game was between A. J. Congdon (Commercial and Farmers' Club, Masterton) and N. F. Dunlop (Federal Club). Tn this event tho loser, Dunlop, had little opportunity of showing his skill, as Congdon monopolised the table,' scoring Ms .300 points in a few seconds over 40 minutes. The best ljreifcs of the evening were:— Connlon, 50, 25. 37. 25, 23, 76; Brice, 24, 25; Chandler, 20; Dunlop, 20. To-night TVvine plays Stone and Tucker meela Hoffeino.
