SUBSCRIPTIONS BEING ' RECEIVED. Subscriptions for the Liberty 'War Loan are Teaching the Treasury from all parts of New Zealand. The_ amount of money required, however, is very large, nnd tho iMinister of Finance (tho Right .Hod. Sir Joseph Ward) 6aid on Saturday that ]io wanted every citizen of New 'Zealand to feel a personal obligation in tho matter. A. sum of 412,000,000 is required on the prasent occasion, with another .£10,000,000 or .£12,000,000 six months hence, and they furnishing of this huge snm of money will demand the united efforts of all the people of New Zealand, the small investors as well as the large. Tho stalls of the Treasury end the Post Office have been, piven a great deal of work in connection with the War Loan, but they have their tasks well in hand. The mero preparation and ordering of the documents in connection with. a X 12,000.000 loan is an enormous -undertaking. Then forms of application have had to be <lietributed to every corner of New Zealand, where thoy may bo procured by intending contributors from postmasters anil licensed brokers. A supplement to the Gazette authorises postmasters throughout New Zealand to take and receive declarations under tho Justices of tho Peace Act for any purpose incidental to tho \\ar Loan. This arrangement will facilitate particularly tho issue of the 5 per cent bon'ds, which have been made available only to persons who do not pay income tax. A declaration is required from any person applying for ono or more of theso debentures, in order to prevent their being issued to tho larger investors for whom tho 4\ per cent stock is intended. The date fixed for closing tho tion lifts for iho Liberty War Loan is Sentomber 3. Tho" Minister of Finance has power to extend the period, but it will bo more satisfactory if this course s not necessary, livery citizen shou d niako his or her 'contribution as early us possible. '
