KHANDALLAH BUSH
A strong dosiro has long been .manifest in the Khandallah district to preserve the remnant of tho nativo bush that still exists to adorn tho slopes of Kaukau, and the Borough Council of some years ago planted several thousand pine (recß on the ridges to protect and shelter the native growth, and enhance tho property as n catchment area, as well ns adding to the beauty of the landscape. These scenic amenities are now threatened by tho action of tho Borough Council in calling for lenders for tho renting of the area for grazing by sheep, which experience has proved causes irreparable and lasting damage to native vegetation and plantations. A deputation of residents will wait on tho counoil this evening to protest against the proposed letting and to draw attention to the advisability of protecting and conserving the bush and plantations.
