MILK PROSECUTIONS
FIJJES IMPOSED ON VENDORS. Mr. 5. K. M'Carthy, S.M.. dealt with two oases of breaches of tho milk regulations, and imposed a fine in eacli case. Mr. V. G. K. Macassoy prosecuted on behalf of tho Health Department. Mrs. E. pray was charged with selling uncleam milk, but Mr. Macnsaev did not press '.for a heavy penalty. He stated that tlie dirt was in the milk when the latter was sent from the farm, and it was sold in tho same condition as received. Defendant /was fined £1 and costs. John Elian Parker and Herbert Yates, trading as Parker and Yates, vera charged with selling milk below the standard. Mr. P. IT. Putnam, ■who appeared for defendants, said that the trouble arose ov»r the fact that tho milk had not been woporly stirred before it was into smaller cans. Both .men had an excellent record. Parker liad been in the milk business for over twenty yeare. and had never previously h een before tho Court. Yate9 had been in business for seven years, and he also bsid a clean record. jMr. Mncassey said that the milk show. Ed 2.G0 per cent, of fat/, whoreas the standard was 3.25 per £ent., and the average of Wellington milk 4 per cent. Defendants were convicted and fined £5 and costs.
