CRYSTALATE CUP CHAMPIONSHIP. The four players in tho inter-club champioßship last night a.t Alcock's werey HofTeins (Mail Eoom) and Baron (Dominion Club) in tho first round, and Tucker (Federal Cluib) and Eussell (Let-ter-carriers' Club) in the second. The first gamo did not show cither player to advantage, and they appear both to 1)3 a little nervous. Hoffeins secured a victory, and gives promiso ivith more experience of 'becomiiig a good player. Tucker had bo difficulty in disposing of his opponent, who is quite a young player, and was making his first public appearance. Tho best breaks of tho ovening were: Hoffcins, 30, 23; Baron, 20; Tucker, 22, 26, 23. . ■To-night A. .T. Conprdon (Commercial and Farmers' Club, Masterton) and_ tho holder of the championship, plays >.'. F. Dunlop (Federal Club), and W. S. Brico (Working Jfen's Club, Petone) plays ,T. A. Chandler (I^tter-Mirriers , Chub). Two really good contests are- expected to result."
