NOTES AND COMMENTS [BY GLENCOE.I For the concluding day at Biccarton there is an attractive bill The card provides two steeplechases, two hurdle races, and four flat events " The Aylesbury Steeplechase is confined to hacks. Bodenhamis-a fresh horse, but he has not been jumping well in Ills schooling work. Coalition fell heavily the first day, and may not be at his best today. The three ton-weights have form and the best credentials, and Wellwood, who has not had a-race for a long time, may be the best of them. The Redclifts Handicap, seven furlongs, has Kilkee for a top weight. He won easily over this distance at Trentham. Another with credentials is Thoughtful, who worked as well as Miss de Val prior to leaving for the south, and now goes bach into the hack class. Powder King was another hor6c finishing on well on Thursday. Disdainful hue been working wonderfully well at Kiccarton, and on her first appearance, which is in the Angust Handicap, she is sure to be well supported. Another horae that will get plenty of supporters is Zuland. With Master Strownn not engaged, St. Elmn, runner-up in the National Steeples, may be the public choice in the Beaufort 'Steeples. Merry Lad did not get far enough on the first day to get a line as to his chances, and of the others Braeburn, who struck the last three fonces In the National very hard, and Nita, who was finishing well on Thursday, appear to have tho best chances. ' At Trentham. San Sebastian improved with racing, and he may be a better horho in the Hack Hurdles to-dny. Golden Glade 'has been a. most unlucky horse in the paet, but he may do better to-day. _ Rewi Poto will have plenty of admi-ers in the Sydenham Hurdles, as he was going jery strong when his bridle Bot nulled oil him in the Bcrimmago opposite the stand on Thursday. Orib is also engagod, and lie niay do better with a stone oil his back. In the Woolston Plate. All Serene han been dropped 51b., and lie may do a lot better to-day. Ascalaphus had a big break at six furlonga in the concluding event on Thursday, and he will probably start in this race to-day. The programme concludes with the Islington Handicap, one mile and ft quartor. Miss de Val is expected to start in this race, though public form points to her havTng a very good chnnce over the shorter distance. Of the others. Lady Penury read 3 nicely with only 81b. above.the minimum.
