THE ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL
(To tho Editor.) Sir,—ln your issuo of August 14 I read a reply signed "Layman" to my letter appearing in a previous issuo of your esteemed paper. As your correspondent has not quite grasped my meaning I would like, with your permission, to say that I am sorry he inferred that I suggested tho proposed memorial homo should be built from money raised by Anglicans only. I wished to say that the money raised to build a cathedral, or even the nucleus of one, could be given, together with public subscriptions, towards building and endowing this proposed memorial home—the same to bo dedicated as a thank-offering to God, and at tho same time being of such practical utility. I do not wish to enter into a newspaper controversy as to tho claims of an Anglican I do think this is hardly tho time for Anglicans or any other, denomination to make good the ecclesiastical apathy of the years preceding this world-wide struggle. Every shilling we havo must be spent ai winning this war—or we shall have no need for cathedrals—helping tho wounded and sick, and tending and •wring for the loved ones of our brave soldiers. Thanking you, sir, for the space afforded me,—l am, etc., PRACTICAL.
