WHY 19?

! (To the Editor.) Sir,—lt is patent to all even-minded people that our legislators would respect the will of the people -when they passed tho War Kegaiations Bill, aud must have been guided, ill their action by the Gov- [ eminent Statistician's figures relative to the registration cards filled in by the 1 peoplo concerned. There are no street- ' corner agitators' wild statements about those figures. There must be many thou- ' sands of the Yes class waiting to be call- ! ed. I have spoken to several of this ' class, among the fittest the country can 1 produce, and all retain the same deterc mination. There may be a few who liave 1 changed their opinions, and whoso sqiLeals 1 are sufficiently intenso as to alarm our : legislators, but really too few to make a J material difference. To win this war wo must have tho ' best; anything short of the best may be ! discarded as being a hindrance; the best : aro the willing. Then why not call up , the whole of the Yes class, before botherin" about the objectors? Besides getting the willing and the best, our wildest agi--3 tators would be robbed of their-choicest 1 argument, our Appeal Boards would be : relieved of a lot of their labours, religj- ; ous ill-feeling would bo placated and, I last but greatest of all, our fightin 0 men ' would be relieved of the arduous duit], of s taking care of our willing and xealous, ! but immature boys.-I am| j •\'nT.T.TI , B-
