SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

A new departure was made at tho Sailors Friend Society at the entertainment on Tuesday evening, when a physical culture display was given by tho pupils of Mr. J. W. Harrison, and a very interesting exhibition it proved. Hie excellent precision and neatness of tj.V club swinging and dumb-bell exercises were marked. An equally good leatnro was the high jump and vaulting display. The whole was rewarded by a rousing cheer from the assembled sailors and company. A musical programme followed, tho items arranged by Mr. Norman E. Aitkon. The following contributed:—The Misses Jelfervs, Karsman, riielnia Aitkon, and Messrs V. Sl'Kenzie, .Norman E. Aitkeh, and Leo Chapman. Mr. Harold Bliek was at the piano.
