ANOTHER AIR RAID
SERIOUS DAMAGE AT SOUTHEND WITH LOSS OF LIFE London, August 12. The Press Bureau reports: "A squadron of twenty enemy aeroplanes this afternoon skirted the coast towards Clacton, whore they divided, part turning towards Margate, while the remainder " crossed the coast and dropped bombs in tho neighbourhood of Southend. Margate to meet them, and sharp fighting followed. The anti-aircraft guns were also busy. From Margate the enemy was driven seaward after dropping four ed. The Press Bure-iu states: "The raiders caused considerable damage at Southend, Where they dropped forty bombs. . The casualties at present reported total eight men, nine women, and six children killed, and abont fifty injured.
