LIQUOR DUTIES
INCREASES IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, August 11. 11l the House of Representatives the Minister of Customs (Mr. J. A. Jensen) announced increases in tho import duty of Bs. per gallon on spirits, mid a similar excise- duty. The beer excise duty has been increased a penny per gallon. Tho estimated revenue from these sources is <£600,000, which will cover tho loss of revonuo caused by tho prohibition of luxuries.—Pros 'Assn.
