Tho representative Ensby mntoh, to have been played at Carterton with Manawatn on August IS, has fallen through, Manawatu being; unablo to send a team down. In consequencb of this, arrangements are being mado for a representative team to play a camp team at Carterton on that date. lii all probability tho school representative Rugby match between Wairnrnpa and AV'elliiigion will be played at Wellington on August 25. Tho settlers of Clareville entertained Private F. Beid, o! the Thirtieth .Reinforcements at n farewell social on Thursday evening, and made him a presentation. Tho sub-contractors who wero engaged in connection with tho erection of some workers' dwellings in Carterton recently, have not been able to get a satisfactory settlement of their, ohiims, and as a result have prepared a petition to Parliament in the matter, whioh it is understood will come up before the House next week.
