HEAVY GALE IN THE NORTH
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 10. . The severest gale for many years was experienced at Kussell from 5 a.m. till midnight yesterday. Great damage was done to the launches and property on shore. One farmer estimates his loss at ■MOM- „ „ , The Kussell Public Hall was-demolish-ed. At Whangamunui Mr. Cook had a trying time saving his whalcship. Considerable damage was done to factories, wharves, and jetties. A. considerable quantity of whalo oil was lost.
