FIRST MILK MANAGER
MAN WITH ENGLISH EXPEDIENCE. Mr. 1?. H. Oliver, of Christchiirch, who lias been appointed milk manager for Wellington, is an Englishman, forty-two years of age, and married. He has been engaged in tho milk-vending business all his life. -For'eight years ne was manager and for three years manager and secretary for Messrs. Hoar and 1 Dumbrill, dairymen, of Portsmouth, England, whose daily milk supply was about half that consumed by the city of Wellington, but probably the number of individual customers was as many as existed in this city. The company had 80 milk rounds, employed 130 hands, and handled 2foo gallons.of milk daily. Mr. Oliver came to New Zealand ostensibly to go farming, but in Christchurch took tip his o'd business with success. Mr. Oliver's report is not to be made available for publication until matters have been further advanced than tl-ey ?re at present. The Mayor dees not anticipate'any difficulty in rawing the .£45,000 needed for the purchase of a site and the erecMon of a suitable cloiu-ing-house and plant. ■
