WHAT NAME?
"KILBIRNIE RECREATION GROUND" Last evening tho Reserves Committee of the City Council reported to the City Council as follows:— 'The committee have to report that tliey have received petitions from the residents of 'the Kilbirnie district praying that the name of the Kilbirnie Reserve be changed to "Crawford Park." Tho lists forwarded are said to contain 438 names. A counter-petition was received from other residents of 'the Kilbirnie and adjoining districts, said to contain 1133 names of those persons who oppose the proposed change ■of name to Crawford Park." These 1133 petitioners desire the designation of Kilbirnie's playground altered 'to Kilbirnie "Park" instead of "Reserve." The committee", after carefully considering the question, have to recommend tho council to alter the name of the Kilbirnie Reserve te the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground. Councillor J. Godber moved in favour of "Crawford Park," and Councillor C. B. Norwood seconded. This proposal was lost, and the recommendation by the committee was adopted.
