POIiI.CE AMD MAINTENANCE CASESv Mr. S: 15. JTCarUir.-S.ir..- presided' al tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. William .Tohn Doylo and William Hobson convicted, of, using threatening behaviour in Cuba. Street, on Saturday ovening last, were'each fined 405.. in default seven days' imprisonment. ' A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed upon Minnc firth; .-who-was convicted "of loitering in Clyde Ouay for immoral .purposes; contrary to the. War Peculations. William 0. Anderson and M. - B.- Crabb, convicted of unlawfully deserting from on oversea vessel, -were each' sentenced to a month's imprisonment, and ordered to be placed on board when requested by the captain .of tlio vessel,. • For four first offenders wcro dealt with in lie usual lenient manner. . A remand to Monday next was Granted in the case of. Diehard Thomas Hnrrisoll, who was charged with wilfully■ railing to maintain his wife at Hcdfern, New South Wales. Bail was refusrd. MAINTENANCE CASES. Maintenance cases wero dealt with as follow:— Henry Rupert. Barlow, whose, -arrears amounted to £19 155., was scnteuced to six months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he pays 10s.. off the arrears, and continues the original payment of 155., making a, total of ZEs. per week. George Ireland, whose arrearß for the maintenance of his child , totalled £12 7s. • 64, was sentenced to six. months' imprisonment. and ordered to .pay posts. John ,T. Kcllehcr, whoso arrears totalled Si, v. as sentenced to a month's imprisonment, and ordered to pay costs. Susan Bishop proceeded against the Public Trustee, as. administrator of a deceased person's estate, to obtain an order for maintenance. After hearing the facts an order was made for 10s. a weclt, to rank as an ordinary debt. DEPENDED" CASE. • Dorothy Martini, for whom Mr. J. J. Jt'Grath appeared, proceeded against George E. Martini for separation, maintenanca, and guardianship of a child. The parties were married last year, and troublo between . them soon developed. I Several witnesses were called on eocli side, , Uie Court being cleared during tho hearing. The Magistrate granted tlio application, and ordered the defendant to pay 20s. pel' weelc towards the maintenance of hi-s wife and child, and also ordered him to pay costs. Mr. H. P.
