GTANT BOMBTNG MACHINES ATTACK POLA. (Rec. August 6, 11.30 p.m.) . , r . Rome, August 5. Mr. Percival .Gibbon writes: ''The Italians aro launching against Pola vast and startling flights of giant "Caprobi" aeroplanes, each carrying a crew of four or five men, led by Guforiell© D'Annunzio, Italy's acclaimed poet. In a raid on Thursday by thirty-six machines, including fast fighters, tho Italians dropped six and a half tons of bombs on the-dock-yard, arsenal, and anchored ships, causing a huge explosion in -the arsenal and great fires. All (Ho machines returned Eight ions of bombs vore dropped on Friday night, with entirely satisfactory results.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
