. ' . „ London, August i. A crime of unparalleled ferocity 'has been revealed in the deliberate murder ot thirty-eight members of the crew of the Belgian Prince. Three survivors, alter enduring fearful sufferings, have landed. They state that when two hundred miles from land on Tuesday tlio Belgian Prince saw a torpedo approaching It struck and exploded, and the vessel took on a heavy list. The,crew took to the boats.
The submarine then aWroached and destroyed the vessel's wireless installation by shell-fire, and ordered the boats alongside. The Germans took Captain Hassan into tho submarine, while fortyone of the others were musnsred on the submarine's deck. The Qeimans took the lifebelts from all except and the outer clothing from all. The* also smashed the boat with axes. They then closed thp hatches, leaving the crew on deck. When tho submarine had "one about two miles, a cry was raised: "S'he's sinking!" ■ Many jumped overboard and others were immediately drowned as the submarine submerged.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
