It is claimed that nothing so quaintly fascinating, so'full of wlneomo fun and sudden touches of real pathos has ever been screened as this smart story. Little . Thelma Baiter is the secretary for the Soapsuds Trust, of ■ which Enid Bennett f bccomes the vice-president- The plot Is ingenious, and throws some delicious fun at those who see the hand of the white slaver in every evening that' a girl is out after half-past seven. EMPRESS THEATRE. Tho last showing of "Moral Courage" takes place to-day. A woman" fearful of becoming a mother is the central figure of "Maternity," tho World Film drama, which opens to-morrow. Alice Brady is the heroine, and her portrayal of the young wife with a lifo problem of her own to solve is said to" be very convincing. The photography is described as brilliant, particularly in the'wonderful night ecene where the hospital is burnt, filmed at dead of night, and full of vivid and realistic flashes. Little Madge Evans, as the child who is rescued, is Baid to earn a distinction all for herself. David Powell, who earned such praise as Dick Frcneau. of "Gloria's Eomauce," and also in the Price Sho Paid," is the hero. • , "VERY GOOD EDDIE." "Very Good Eddie," one of the latest of J. and N, Tait's attractions, will be presented by the firm's New Musical Comedy Company at' the Grand Opera House on Wednesday next, and will be staged fbr six nights only, giving way then to "The White Chrysanthemum." - "Very Good Eddie" is Stated to have a.bright and piquant story
replete with screamingly funny situations, glorious scdneryj haunting melodies, original ballets, and gorgeous dressing. Sixty performers take part in tlio production, with'a strong oast "Of principals, including Miss Fayette Perry, Miss Lilian Tucker, Mr. 'John Beck, three artists 1 of high repute in America. The principal comedian, Mr. Barry Lupino, it is said, has done nothing better than his Eddie Kettle. Another old favourito whose reappearance will be appreciated is Jlr. Andrew Higginson. of "Merry Widow" fame. Other, prominent principals are Miss Daisy Eevette, Miss Emily Fitzroy, Miss Nan Taylor, who was a. member of the "Bunty I'ulls tlio Strings" Company, Mr. Lionel Walsh Mr.- Frank Greene, the popular musical comedy i artist, Arthur Bristowe, and Charles Pope. As producer, Barry Lupino has introduced many novelties, and the full orchestral band is under the musical directorship' of Mr. Robert Keers. The box plan of reserved seats is now open at the Bristol, and the management states that the bookine is exceptionally' heavy, and intending patrons should reserve their seats' as early as possible.
