THE BEST WAY TO HELP
Sir,—Seeing the great need there is of shipping at the present time, and the scarcity of ships,which are getting less every day, instead of sending the next reinforcements would it not be in the best interest of the country ior the Government to send to England as soon as possible, say, 1000 men from Class C to i of the Second Division-men whose trades and ability would enable them to help in the building of snipsjor commerce and also for defence? The men could bo drawn from the non-essential trades off the country, which would not cause any hardship and at the same time would be heZV the Mother Country and the Empi e more than if we sent 10,000 to Urn ront.
