News has been received of the death atij Tauranga on July 28 of Mr. Horace Edgar White, at the ago of 54 years. .Mr. White was well known in Wellington, and in his earlier years he was chief steward of the Mararoa, and later vas licenseo of tho Esplanade Hotel, revonport. Upon leaving that hotel Mr. White>' wont to Whangarei, and returned to. Auckland to manage the Oorame-.'cial.; Travellers' and Warehousemen's Clib, •»• position which he held for seven years. He resigned on account of ill-health, and went to Tauranga. For fibme time past, his health had been failing. Ho is survived by a widow and family.

Mr. W. T. Dunn, an old settler in tho Wairarapa, died suddenly yesterday inorning. Mr. Dunn came to New Zealand in the Berman in 1842, and had seert a lot of pioneering -work. He followed up the several gold rushes, Bendigo and.! others, but for a number of years had:, lived in Grevtown. He had three sons,, all of whom'went'to tne war. One ha 3.; returned, one is believed to have been killed, and the third is still in France. At the time of his death, Mr. Dunn -was 88 years of age. He was a brother ot Mrs. I.'M. Maxton, veno recently passed, away, nnd also a orocuer ol Mr. Edward .Tohn Dunn, of'Groytown, and Mr. .H.. Dunn, of Eketahuna. Mr. Dunn was «n old Forester, and he will bo buried wittv the honours of the order.

Mr. N. B. Kent Manlcy, of Wellington,, died yesterday, after having been ill, for some time. He had lived in. Wellington for mnny years, coming ■ li«.w to join the clerical staff of the Govern.-, me'nt Printing Office. After twenty-fiv»i years' service he retired on snperannuar/ tion, and for some years past had en-; gagedin the sharebroking husiness. Prior to coming to Wellington he was in theservice of the National Bank at Wanganui. The late Mr. Manley was. born: at Onehunga in 1863. and was educated at the Wangamii Collegiate School. In his earlier days he was a keen chess player, and was instrumental in arrang' ing the publication of a periodical on tho came. His strong sense of duty and kind and generous 'disposition endeared him to nil who knew him. The funeral will leave his late residence, 25 Ellice Street, at 9 ojclock to-morrnw morning. Mr Joshua Tucker, of Ashburton,- has received advice that his son, Captain T? G. Tucker, who is serving in East Africa, has been, seriously wounded. When the present war broke out Oaptam Tucker enlisted with General I'othas forces, and proceeded to German West Africa. Eater he went with iretierttl Snrats's armv to Gorman East Africa. Recent advices stated that Upturn. Tucker had'only just recovered from an attack of malarial fever.
