SOME OP THE ITEMS The Estimates include the following items:— Accountant to tho Treasury (increase in salary), £50. Payment towards cost of reinsuring funeral benefits of members of friendly societies serving with the Expeditionary Forces, £15,000.

Purchase of motor-cars, motor-cycles, and bicycles for the Post Office, .£IO,OOO. Purchase of motor oil for P. 0., £6000. Eepairs and hire (for P. 0.), £10,000. Bonus for mineral oil, .£1250. Administration and expenses in connection with the censorship of kinematograph films, £750 (last year .£542). Expenses of Commission, JJIOBO. Last year's votes of ,£7OO for a Trade and Immigration Representative, and .£350 for an Inspector of New Zealand Dairy Produce in London do not appear in this year's Estimates. A sum of ,£SOO is provided for "scientific research." Investigation and treatment in connection with cancer, venereal disease and dental conditions, .£3OOO. (Last year's expenditure, £9.) No voto appears on the Estimates for the salary, allowances, and expenses of the official war correspondent. La6t year the vote was ,£IOOO and the expenditure was £109 G.
