MASTERTON NOTES
During the month of July no bankruptcies were recorded in the Wairarapa. There have been 'only four declarations in insolvency for the first seven months of the year, compared with eight for the same period last year. . Building .permits to tho value of .C2OS!) were issued in iMasterton during the month of 3 uly. Labour is. reported to be difficult to obtain on somo of the outback stations of the Wairdrapu. There are a good many men on the roads, but they do not appear eager for work. Fourteen births, ten marriages, and fifteen, deaths were registered in Masterton during the month of July. During the past month the Wairarapa Patriotic Association has paid <C15(I as right ot service grants to returned soldiers and the dependants of, soldiers. The total amount'paid out in this connection to date 'is .£l2lO, the recipients numbering 2-12. A tender has been accepted for the erection of. three additional workers' dwellings in Mifeterton. The rainfall registered in Master-ton for tho month of July was 5.2-1 inches, compared with 3.53 inches for tho same mouth last year.
