WAR PRISONERS
BRITAIN AND GERMANY RATIFY AGREEMENT DEALING WITH SICK AND WOUNDED London, July 27. In the House of Commons, Mr. Hope announced that Britain and Germany have ratified the "War Prisoners Agreement. The agreeraont provides for more leniont medical qualifications for repatriation and internment in neutral countries, the repatriation of the worst cases from Switzerland, the internment in Holland of 7500 sick and wounded British and German combatant prisoners, and also of 0500 officers and non-com-missioned officers who have been imprisoned for eighteen months, all of whom will be eligible for internment in a neutral country. Holland will also provido for 2000 civilian prisoners, preferably invalids.—Router. THE PRISONERS IN ENGLAND REDUCTION OP PUNISHMENTS. London, July 27. Mr. J. F. Hope, in n statement in the House of Commons regarding German prisoners of war, said the punishment of prisoners who attempted to escape had been reduced, and all punishments at present inflicted would cease by August 1. Reprisals against individuals would be immediately cancelled, and future reprisals would be subject to a month's notice. The execution of all othor sentences would be postponed until peace had been declared.—Router.
