WAR HONOURS FOR NEW ZEALANDERS
The "New Zealand Herald's" London correspondent, writing under date June 12, has the following:— Lieut. A. G.■Jennings, Northumberland Fusiliers, has been awarded tho Military Cross. Ho is the only surviving son of Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., New Plymouth. At the opening of the Battle of Arras, Lieut Jennings was the only officer left iu charge "of the company. He assumed command of the remnants, and managed to knock out a German machine-gun crew, and to capture tho gun. This gun was holding up tho attack, and had stopped two parties who had previously tried to get it. Mr. Jennings was a Main Body N.Z.E.F. man, and was invalided from Gallipoli with shell shock. He received his commission at the beginning of this vcar. Captain W. Boughs Reid, R.A.M.C., of Blenheim, ha 3 been awarded the Military Cross. Ho is attached to the Manchester Regiment. The Military Medal has.been awarded to Pte S. G. Downev. Field Ambulance; Driver L. Bryant, A.S.C.'; Sergl. W. L. Johansen, "Wellington Regiment; Sergt. A. R. Hawke, Field Ambulance, for acts of gallantry in the field.
