ORGANISATION FOR MOBILISATION

Home service is dealt with in the last issuo f "Gceral Orrlers" by lhc Defence authorities. Extracts from the Orders follow •- "Soldiers of the Home Service Branch will serve under precisely the same conditions as soldiers of the foreign Servico Branch, excepting that non-com'mis-sioned officers- and men who are .not quartered and rationed by the Department, will be paid a. lodging allowance, and that -warrant rank will not bo granted, to any N.C.O. of Iho Homo Service Branch. "Soldiers of Hie Home Service Branch who arc not immediately required for service shall, bo granted leavo without pay- . ~ ••'Until Iho Minister of Defence shall otherwise direct, soldiers of the P.omo Service (Branch who are required for actual homo service will be called up from those only who volunteer tor such actual home service. Volunteers belonging to such trades or occupations as may from timo to time bo specified by the Minister of Dcfcnco shall not bo pcccpled for actual home service. "Tho records of tho Homo Service Branch will be held by the Director of Hecruiting. -who, when a soldier is called up for home service, will pass ono copy to the Commander of"tho 'section or Camp Commandant concerned. "Soldiers of the Home Service Brancii w.ill mobilise at their Group Headquarters or other specified centre whon summoned bv proclamation or posted orden-.. "Soldiers of the-Home Service Branch employed on actual homo service wilt bo organised in 'sections' according to Uteir military arm or the nature of their employment. 'Sections' will bo of irregular strength, and their establishment shall bo as determined by the Commandant from time to timo to meet the requirements of tho situation m regard to tho particular duties discharged, iistablishments will be published m lumcral Orders.' 'Sections' will bo commanded by an offioer. detailed from the unit or branch of tho selvico to whifch tlio 'section' is attached,' under the Officer. Commanding tho district or camp v which they are serving; in tho case tu 'sections' attached to tho R.N.Z.A., under, the O.C. Eegiment, 8.N.Z.A.; and in the case of 'sections' connected witn branches at Headquarters. N.Z. Military "Forces, under the Director of tho branch in which they are serving. Promotion in accordance'with establishment may bo mado by the Officer Commanding tho Lietrict, the Camp Commandant, or tho Director of the branch at Headquarters under whom the 'section' is sewing.
