AUSTRALIA'S CALL FOR MEN
PROGRESS OF RECRUITING. Melbourne, July 25. Senator Poarce (Minister of Defence) has announced that to tho end of last week 300,227 troops had embarked for tho front. The Recruiting Conference has resolved upon a personal canvass of all eligible men, to bo made by returned soldiers. The conference urged that rejection badges should only be' issued to men who volunteer to submit themselves every six months. ■ Tho Government is- to be urged to take a census of all males in Australia between the ages of 16 and '15, and to drastically curtail all sport.—Press Assn.
