Wavcrlev—No. S Queen's Wharf. 1 Wairau—No. 11 (north) Queen's Wharf. Nikau—No. 10 Queen's Wharf. Corinna—No. 1 (south) Queen's Wharf. Tainui—King's Wharf. THE MAPOURIKA. The Westport "Times" states:—"The Union Company's Westport manager has advised the president of the local Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of Westport that he has received a communication from his head office to the following effect: The resumption of the Mapourika is purely a question of the support the West Coast is prepared to give to enable the company-to operate the vessel with a margin of profit. The trade ha'§ been carried on for a considerable time at a loss, the vessel only receiving handfuls of cargo from Wellington, and a small number of passengers. The dwindling amount of cargo carried has been frequently pointed out, and the remedy lies with the trading community and public of th c West Coast. The position is that if tho public are prepared to support this vessel, substantially, the company is prepared to resume running as an experiment: but if the result is unsatisfactory, it cipinot undertake to continue." | Tho Magic left yesterday morning for Sandy Bay. She is due back on Saturday and will go ou tho slip to have her hull attended to. - ■ An alteration was made yesterday in the sailing time, and destination of' the Corinna, which was to hare left last, nicht for Dunedin. Oamaru, and Timtru. Tbo vessel will now leave for Dunciin" direct
a .t,3i p.m. to-day. Cargo will be received till 11 a.m. The Komata is to leave Wcstport to-day , with a full cargo of coal for Wellington. . j Iho Hiuemoa, after taking on board pro- I visions, left Westport at noon yesterday to mako another attempt to land stores, at Kahnrangi Point. The Regulus is due in port to-morrow from Wanganui and Picton, and will sail the same day for Nelson and thc West Coast. A new five-masted schooner arrived in Australia recently, after a run of 46J days fro/d Vancouver. So far, this is the best passage yet made by a motor schooner from the Pacific Coast to Australia. The schooner is under the command of Captain Mathieson, formerly master of the barque Antiope. After being delayed for three months in Auckland, the uew Island schooner Tercora is to bo allowed to leave New Zealand. Tho vessel was built by Messrs. W. H. Brown and Sons for A. B. Donald, Ltd., for tho Eastern Pacific iradc. She was launched on March 25 and handed over to the owners in the following month. An application for registration under tlic French flag, as in the case of other vessels belonging to the Eame firm, was refused by the authorities, who relied on the prohibition, gazetted since the outbreak of war, of the transfer of British vessels to foreign registers. The owners contended that tho Tereora was not being transferred, as she had not been registered under any flag. The annual election of officers of the Waterside Workers'. Union was held on Tuesday and Wednesday. The poll' was a heavy one. and thc result will not he known until an early hour this morning.
