KARORI BOROUGH AFFAIRS

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Kalori Borough Council was held on Tuesday, the Mayor (Mr. B. C. Ji. Burn) presiding, and there were also present: Councillors W. Skesg, R. L. Tingey. T; W. Lewer, ,T. Mackenzie, H. E. Dryden, W. Q. Bradnock, and A. Hamilton. The secretary of St; Maw's Vestry wroto with respect to granting plots for the burial of returned soldiers wiio may (lie, that the churchyard under the control of the vestry, was'so full, that it was at present only available for the burial of the few remaining old parishioners. The vestry was, however, willing to provide plots for Knrori soldiers who may die belore discharged from the service. . A case of scarlet fever in the borough was notified. i The council dedided to accede to the Prime Minister's request concerning the celebration of the third anniversary of the war, and the Mayor urged councillors to make a special effort to attend the meeting. With respect to the council complaint that city tickets were issued on the Karori line the Tramways Traffic Manager, .in a letter, stated that in all cases where city tickets were so issued the matter was reported by the conductors and adjustments were made in the cash office, so that the borough incurred no losses. The Tramway Committee reported that the City Tramway Committee reported that the City Tramway Manager proposed an alteration of' the time-table on the Karori line, which would eliminate to a large extent the stop-over time and the expense arising therefrom, and recommending the council to approve of the proposed time-table, which was fixed to como into force on September 1 if accepted by the council. There wns a good deal "of discussion as to whether the matter should J>e approved or consideration deferred until next meeting. The adjournment was defeated, on the casting vote of the Mnyor.
