Quinlivan's stables was recently kibked on tho hock by another yearling, and it has been found nceseary to spell her. Tho Athcnic—Maude colt, sold at Hastings last month by his breeder (Mr. W. .T. Douglas) has been returned as tho purchaser was not satisfied with him. Tho youngster has now joined J. Munn's stables at Hastings. It will be interesting to see how Mr. Douglas names tho Athenio colt. Last time ho had a horse thrown back on his hands ho called him Whakahoki, which is the Maori for repudiation. Waimai is engaged in a steeplechase run over a two-mile course at Caulfteld today, but in view of his more important engagement on tho same course next month, he may not Iμ started to-day. Ohakwana met with an injury in her box early this week, and nearly had her eye knocked out. As she Is not intended to raco until the Spring, tho Hierarch mare will be none .tho worse for the mishap. Tho English-bred stallion Polydamon has arrived In Auckland, looking in excellent condition. Tho newcomer is bred on the most approved lines, being by tho Oyllcne horse Polymelus, who is tho chainnion sire o' England, and whoso half-brother, Grafton, did so well at tho stud in Australia. Polclamon's dam. Damia, is by Diamond Jubilee (son of Bt. Simon) from Amphitheatre, by Amphion (son of Rnoc.uhim or Eoscbery) from Defcrvation, by Wisdom. liiko his fire (Polymelus) nnd jtrundslre (OyBonc). Polydamon is a rich chestnut, and is a horso of thoroughly masculine appearance, standing fully sixteen hands. After the Wellington meeting thoWangamil trainer 31.
