YESTERDAY'S APPEALS. . * The Third .Wellington Military S*rvico Board continue!! its sittings in Wellington yesterday. The board consists of Mr. .11. J. Beswick (chairman), Jfr. 31. J. Mack, aud Mr. A. O'L. Considiue. Captain P. Baldwin is the military representative. . The National Secretary of theY.ll.C.A'. appealed for the exemption, of Percy Malcolm Velvin, A. L. Baumgart, and H. Fawcott, field secretaries at present with the troops abroad. The board adjourned the cases sine die. Hi. J. W. M'acdonald, solicitor for the Public "Trust Office, asked the board to grant Leslie James Stanley, clerk in'the (Jhristchurcli office, exemption to the middle of .September. Air. Macdonald eaid that Stanley was in charge of the Tntestacy Branch. The position at Christciiurch was very serious, and about the middle of September practically all the trained staff would have gone into camp. A man was at present in training to take over Stanley's woi'le. Tho board granted leave till the September; draft goes into camp. Application was made for the exomp.tion of two Catholic priests, Kcvm M'Grath and William James Saunder=on. The board adjourned the cases sine die. An adjournment sine die was also niado in the case of Norman William Thompson, prison warder, of Auckland. Pte. Keginald Kenrdon Was granted leave for three -weeks of n«xt month. The board, adjourned sine die the appeal made by the Comptroller of* Customs for' the exemption of Walter 11. U. Oliver, examining officer, stationed at Auckland. The'decision will be reviewed when the First Division is exhausted. James Bell, farm labourer, Lawrence, was granted leave, till August 22. The case of John Bray, blacksmith, Kilbirnie, wa.s adjourned pending the submission of a report by the Financial Assistance Board. .
