The Back or Erejlaad discount rate v;ae on Januaiy 2, 1914, reduced from 5 to «J per cent., on 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on Januojry 28 3 per cent. On July oO tho rate was raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 It was ralscu to 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advanced to ao per cent. On Austust 6 the rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 jjt was further reduced to 6 per cent., on July 13. 1916. it was raised to ti per cent., on Jaqruary 12, 1917. it was reduced to hi per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 por cent.
OPEN MARKET KATES, The open :tnarSot discount rate for th'rcn months' biß is 43 per cent., as compared with 4jr per cent- last week and 5| per cent •last year. Short loans are quoted at 4J per cent.. as against 43 per cent, last week and 4J per cent, last year.
