« ; EXTRAORDINARY DROWNING FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. : ' Thames, July 20. •V sad drowning fatality occurred last night, A little girl aged six years was playing on a bridge at Kerikeri, near Kopu, with two small boys, one a Native, when, it is alleged, tho latter undressed the girl arid pushed her into tho water. An alarm was at once given and the stream dragged all night. The body was recovered this morning. The name of tho girl drowned was Irene Quinn, daughter of Mr. Quinn, J.P., whose son was recently decorated at tho front for bravery. An inquest was opened this afternoon by Mr. Lucas, Coroner, and was adjourned, both lade being detained by the police. MAN FALLS AND BREAKS HIS NECK. Christchurch, July 20. Frank Hoffman, aged 47 years, a trimmer in an overseas vessel, slipped while <lescending a gangway this evening, and fell backwards on to the wharf, breaking his neck. BODY FOUND IN MANOKAU HARBOUR, Auckland, July 20. The body of a man found in the llnnukau Harbour to-day has been identified as that of William Oliver, donkoyman on tho steamer Rosamond, whodisappeared while at Oiicliunga on July 10.
