FKOZEN MEAT 'MARKET. Messrs. Gilbert Audcrson.and Co. (ITr-Bsrs. Mcllsop, Elliott' and Co.. Palmcrston North, local acenti) report on the frozen Jiicat market under date London, April. 20. as follows:— ' ; . : . " , t . , Trade has met with a, remarkable setback. Fresh Government regulations have come into roreo ordering one meatless day each week in the restaurants- and limitinß the amount of meat to be eaten at a meal on other days to 6oz. The consumption of meat is, therefore, considerably reduced. On the other hand, the supply of home-grown is greatly augmented as a consequence of growers killing oil much-of their liyo stock through the request of tho Board of Agriculture that the utmost economy Bhould bo observed in tho uso of artillcial feeding stuffs; The meat market has, therefore, completely brok'en down, and business is taore or less at a standstill. In addition to this an arrangement has been made with the importers of the South American meat whereby on May 1 Argentine lambs will bo reduced to lid., and Eheep to 10d., and holders are. therefore,' making frantic endeavours to got quit of their stocks in hand meantime, with the result that there is a fall in values of anything from ljd. to 2d. per lb. in ouo week.
