WAR INVENTIONS INSPECTED

Mr. Philip Gibbs in his description of the King's Visit to the front says: "Tho King was deeply interested in a demonstration of tho latest German and British war inventions, including General von Arnim's improved projector for shooting flames a great distance, and also projections of burning oil in great waves of liquid fire. The new form of smoko barrage, for concealing the movements ■of troops, which was used at Messines with great success, is so dense that nothing can bo seen through the smoke at three hundred yards' distance. The demonstration with tho tanks was full of excitement. Tho King and the Prince of Wales toured in one."—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn. "Tho Times" Headquarters correspondent states that the King, after witnessing tho demonstration of war inventions, spoke disgustedly of the barbarism of the enemy, "which has compelled us to meet them with uncivilised weapons. Oars are now much more potent."—"The Times."
