On Mon«»y last the staff mado a million feet of ps,.and every day is showing n little ; better result. Tho normal consumption *>t gas is 1,300,000 foct per day of 2* hours. It is almost certain that this Output will hardly be needed for a time, as many gas-usors have been forced to .pat in. electricity during tho trouble, and others, will want to uso up supplies of oil that have been acquired to tide them lover tho gasless periods. The gas was (available to all users until after 8 o'clock last ovaning. To-day the gas will be (turned on at C a.m. and will remain on (until 10 p.m. To-morrow the company jhopes to do even a littlo better still, *ind . shopkoepers .on Friday (tho late Inight) will probably have lull supplies Up to tho closing hour. j According to Auckland exchanges, a martial settlement has beon arrived at the Conciliation Council in the dispute between the Auckland Gas Comipany, tho Birkenhead and Northcoto Ga6 (Company, and their respective employees. /The question of wages was referred to the Court of Arbitration. It was agreed *hat tho week's work shall consist of Seven shifts of eight hours each, workers ■to chango shifts every week or fortnight, as may be mutually arranged, so that •the days work may be apportioned equally. It was furthor agreed that each Worker for twolvo months shall 'recoivo Jen days' holiday on- full pay, tho time lor such vacation, to be mutually agreed •upon. ' , • .
