MAN ASPHYXIATES HIMSELF.

Timaru, July 16. Edward Cutten, for seveuteen years Town Clerk of Tem'uka, aged 55 years, was found dead at his homo on Saturday - A "as jet was turned on. Deceased rad recently bftfiii in ill-health, ffifi wifo vus absent at Hanmer. At tho inquest which was held to-day at Tenvuka, it was stated that deceased complained on Thursday that he was suffering with neuralgia. 1 He had a bad ni»ht on Thursday, and was no better on Friday. He was found on Saturday with a flexible gas-piw: across his face under his overcoat. The jury- returned a verdict that death was due to asphyxiation caused by gas administered whilst suffering great pain.
FOUND DEAD.
Gisborne, July IS. ' The tody of an elderly man named William Collins was found alongside the railway ,at Ormond on Sunday morning. It is supposed he was struck by an engine at the crossing.
